Gurdwara Palki Sahib Design Concept
Our client in Nottingham approached us to design a modern version of a Gurdwara Palki Sahib. This is the focal point in the Sikh Gurdwara temple, where upon the living guru sits – that is the Guru Granth Sahib (the Sikh holy book).

Above the Palki Sahib is a cloth canopy called a chanani. Sermons are given from a priest sat behind the holy book on the Palki.

The various tiers separate hierarchies of sacred space; the lowest tier allows for flowers and donations, the middle for traditional armoury display, the top for the holy book and priest reader.
