Nigeria Masterplanning

Urban design and masterplanning project for a new mixed use district in Nigeria.  At the centre of the site, the existing technical college was built in the early 70’s by Canadian designers.  These buildings have been built perpendicular to the prevailing wind to maximise passive cooling.  The technical college has been built skewed in relation with the surrounding city, which does not follow the same passive design principles. The new masterplan design explores the juxtaposition of spaces connecting the college to the city, in a dynamic tension between the two grids and building cultures.
